The production of 78 RPM records aimed at the general public gradually declined in the middle of the 1950s, with the arrival of the LP record. De Wolfe Music however continued to release 78s until the end of the 1960s, as the audiovisual sector, in particular TV channels, held onto their gramophones for a long time. The material of these disks was however changed, and shellac was replaced with vinyl, which was lighter and more resistant.
